This DIY coffee table is the easiest furniture build I’ve done! It’s cost efficient and the perfect project for a beginner DIYer! Read on for the tutorial!

Do you feel like your decor style has changed? My style has slowly been evolving and I no longer loved the look of my coffee table. Not to mention, my kiddos had been pretty rough with it and since it wasn’t real wood the veneer around the edges was pretty scratched up.
I looked online at several styles of coffee tables and found this style that I loved! The best part was the construction of it looked pretty simple and I thought I could build it myself for much cheaper than the prices I saw it going for online.
My first step was to figure out the dimensions I wanted my table to be and the materials I would need. One of the best things about DIY projects/furniture is that you can create any custom size that fits your space and choose a finish you love!
The overall dimensions of my coffee table are: 45″ wide, 27″ deep, 16 1/2″ tall
Materials needed: three 2x10x8 pine boards, wood glue, strong ties (optional), and wood stain
Cut List: three 2×10 boards cut to 45″ and eight 2×10 boards cut to 15″
Directions:
- Glue the three 45″ boards together to create the table top (clamp them together while they are drying if you have clamps)

2. Glue the 15″ boards into pairs (you should have four sets total)
3.Let the glue dry well

4. Glue two pairs of boards, side by side, to each end of the coffee table top for the legs. I attached mine 7″ in from the ends of the tabletop.

5. (Optional) Attach strong ties to the under side of the table (since I only used wood glue when building the table, I decided to add these extra supports because my kiddos use our coffee table as a stage most days!)

6. (Optional) Then comes the fun part! Distress the wood as much or little as you’d like to give it an aged look. I used a hammer, a hand plainer, a wire wheel, and sand paper.

7. Stain or paint the table to achieve your desired look. For my table, I applied a coat of whitewash stain and then a coat of Briarsmoke stain.

This coffee table build is such a simple project and great for beginner DIYers. There are no tricky cuts and you literally just have to glue it together! Not only is this an easy project but it’s also a budget friendly project. It only cost $50 to build this table!
